Tuition

Two sessions will be offered during Summer 2017:

  • Session 1: July 10th – July 21st
    Cost: $4,550 per student
  • Session 2: July 24th – August 4th
    Cost: $4,550 per student
    Cost: $5,850 per student (with room and board)

Tuition includes: All course materials, use of facilities for surgical skills training labs, laboratory training facilities and staff, OR training and observer certification, access to operating room, use of patient simulation center, ultrasound course, fetal pig dissection course, CPR training and BLS certification, breakfast and lunch (every day), daily parking, and Summer Surgery Program-embroidered white coats, hospital scrubs, program t-shirt and program textbook and notebooks.

For students interested in room and board, tuition also includes dinner, as well as evening and weekend activities such as amusement parks, picnic at the beach and similar activities.

Each applicant must first meet minimum criteria for age and academic standing prior to applying. Applicants will be selected for an interview to assess personal maturity and motivation for a career in medicine. The opportunity to observe live surgery is a privilege that we take very seriously, and we kindly ask that our Summer Surgeons keep this in mind when applying.

Space is limited to 24 students per session. Due to the popularity of this program, we strongly advise students to apply early. Applications are selected on a rolling basis throughout the year. **Room and board will only be offered during Session 2. All applicants interested in staying on-campus are encouraged to apply.

Once an applicant is accepted into the program, he or she will be required to send in their registration form. Tuition is due in full 2 weeks after an applicant is accepted into the program. Checks should be made payable to the UC Regents.
