Who is eligible?

UC Irvine’s 2021 Summer Surgery Program is open to high school students who:

Are 16 years of age or older**
Are respectful and mature
Have a 3.5 GPA (unweighted) or above
Complete all required application and registration forms in a timely manner

**The applicant must turn 16 years old on or before the start date of their program session to be eligible to attend

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be offering housing for the 2021 Summer Surgery Program.

Each student will receive confirmation once all application materials are received.

Applicants are selected for telephone interviews on a rolling basis; so the earlier the application is complete, the greater the likelihood of acceptance.

Students are evaluated based on their academic performance, diversity of experiences and background, essay quality, recommendation letter, and commitment to succeeding in the program.
